Social Security Cards:

Something to remember in applying for a mortgage is your social security number. A slight
inversion of a number recently had one of our applicants as "dead" and with a lot of explaining
to do. Another customer gave his wife's "social" incorrectly and thus necessiated a very last
minute trip to the Social Security office for a new card. Since 9/11, lenders require proof of social security number. A good idea might be to request a re-issue of your Social Security card if you no longer have one. Takes about 10 days and might come in handy come mortgage time.
